Curious? So were we…
It’s nearly impossible to be alive in the year 2025 and not have heard about semaglutide (aka GLP-1, aka Ozempic®). This new family of medications is celebrated as a treatment for diabetes, heart conditions, obesity, and generalized weight loss & management. Various options have been soaring in popularity (did you see celebrities at the Oscars?) so much so that there have been nationwide shortages.
The resulting volume of brand names is enough to make anyone’s head spin. Nonetheless, two have distinguished themselves as the most reliable compounded semaglutide providers: SkinnyRx and Hers – so we tested both brands to decide who we recommend as our #1 provider.
Introducing… SkinnyRx and Hers
SkinnyRx specializes in weight loss & management so their offerings are very straightforward to understand. Patients approved for a prescription through SkinnyRx are sent compounded semaglutide with either injection or oral administration, depending on the patient’s preference (semaglutide is the active ingredient in Ozempic® and Wegovy®).

Hers is the sister company of His, a telehealth brand providing medical support through prescription and non-prescription treatments for a variety of conditions. Unlike SkinnyRx, Hers does not have one specific field of expertise, as their offerings cover an array of areas including hair growth, mental health, skincare, and weight loss.
Allow us to set the scene: Both of these companies offer compounded semaglutide (GLP-1 medication) for prescription without insurance. Additionally, both SkinnyRx and Hers partner with FDA-regulated 503a and 503b (compounding) pharmacies, and both are FSA/HSA eligible.
Customer Trust & Reviews: SkinnyRx (50,000+ Customers)
We’ll just come right out and say it: Trustpilot’s average rankings for SkinnyRx and Hers are, respectively, 4.8 (Excellent) and 3.3 (Average). We take the peoples’ experiences and perspectives very seriously… and who better to tell us their thoughts than actual (and disincentivized) customers? The numbers don’t lie.

Intake Survey Experience: SkinnyRx
Our first taste of each company was through our intake registration evaluations. The surveys we completed were similar, but had some standout differences: for one, Hers’ was slightly longer and required uploading a photo ID and/or the last four digits of your SSN. That felt a tad invasive, although prescriptions are serious business, so maybe we shouldn’t have been surprised?
SkinnyRx included two particularly interesting questions about patients’ willingness to increase physical activity and/or reduce caloric intake alongside medication, which seemed to speak to their (a) ethos of holistic wellness despite a focus on weight loss, and (b) a certain pragmatism about the impact of healthy habits combined with medications. SkinnyRx also included a transparent info page about how GLP-1s work, ending with a checkbox to confirm the patient’s consent.
From our perspective at the receiving end, the latter felt a bit warmer, so SkinnyRx nabbed this catgeory.

Pricing: Tied
When it comes to GLP-1, both SkinnyRx and Hers offer several subscription plans and pricing options that don’t change based on the amount prescribed:
SkinnyRx:
- 12-month plan: $179 per month
- 6-month plan: $249 per month
- 4-month plan: $299 per month
- 1-month plan: $349 per month
Hers:
- 12-month plan: $165 per month
- 6-month plan: $249 per month
- 3-month plan: $299 per month
Both brands’ 6 month plan pricing comes out to $249 per month. Though Hers’ lowest price option falls slightly under SkinnyRx’s ($165 vs $179), SkinnyRx offers an especially easy-to-get-started single-month plan, which requires the lowest upfront payment.
The overall financial discrepancy was hardly significant enough to differentiate the two, so this category was a draw.

Treatment Variety: SkinnyRx
Our investigation is focused specifically on compounded semaglutide (GLP-1) due to its efficiency, accessibility, and affordability as opposed to other options in the weight loss space. That said, we’re excluding other forms of weight loss medication from this consideration.
It’s important to note that Hers may prescribe patients any number of non-GLP-1 weight loss treatment options, so if you’re looking for a smooth path directly to GLP-1, SkinnyRx is likely the way to go.
While compounded semaglutide is only available in an injectable form from Hers, SkinnyRx offers both injectable AND oral treatments (with once-a-week administration and daily, respectively). It’s true that injectable semaglutide has been deemed more effective, but patients who cannot (or do not) want to use a syringe might understandably opt for the non-invasive droplets instead. It’s nice to have options!

The aforementioned options offer a great deal of agency, so maybe you won’t be surprised to hear that when it comes to compounded semaglutide (GLP-1), SkinnyRx won us over for their variety.

Medication Effectiveness: Tied
People taking GLP-1 medications continue to flaunt its effectiveness even after they stop using the medication (and especially when they continue their diet and exercise regimens). Given the consistency of the active ingredient among top providers, there shouldn’t be a difference in effectiveness when the medications are used with the same approach.

Ingredients being equal, what ultimately mattered most to us were the service and support presented by each provider’s team. More on this momentarily…

Turnaround Time From Sign Up to First Use: SkinnyRx
If you’re anything like us, you want to start losing weight NOW. We’re pleased to report that through both SkinnyRx and Hers, licensed clinicians got back to us within 12 hours (although SkinnyRx was a few hours faster).
Both providers shipped our products speedily after we confirmed the length of our subscription plan, but SkinnyRx offered FREE *EXPEDITED* SHIPPING, so their shipment arrived in an unbelievable 2 days. We promised we’d be thorough, didn’t we?

Between delivery and response times, SkinnyRx had the quicker turnaround time for the entire process.

TLDR? We Suggest SkinnyRx for Your Weight Loss Needs
SkinnyRX specializes in weight loss and GLP-1. If you’re looking for a generalized telehealth resource, Hers might be the route for you. But if you clicked on this review to see which company will give you a seamless weight loss experience, we’d be remiss not to send you toward SkinnyRx.
One of our biggest takeaways from this entire process was that more isn’t necessarily better. While Hers tauts a slew of add-ons alongside prescriptions, reviews gave us reason to believe these resources weren’t consistent or reliable. Not only that, but we didn’t need them.
From SkinnyRx, we received what was promised: a prescription from a licensed medical official, GLP-1 medication from an FDA-regulated pharmacy, and unwavering support demonstrated through expertise and ongoing care.
Our goal was to secure weight loss medication as safely and efficiently as possible. For us, and for their 50K+ customers with the same intention, SkinnyRx delivered on every front.
