The timeless, temp-regulating Breeze Collection from Buffy is “cool” in more ways than one…
A little over two years ago, alongside my team at The Suite, I set out on a quest to find the Best Cooling Bedding on the Market. Our research led us to Buffy’s Eucalyptus-based comforter and sheet set, now known as the Breeze Collection. At the time, Buffy had 20,000+ positive testaments from customers and a laundry list of attributes and accolades. While writing our review, I purchased the Breeze Comforter and Breeze Sheet Set.
We thought it would be fun to write a follow-up piece evaluating the longevity of Buffy’s bedding… and who better to do it than myself, the original guinea pig who still uses Buffy to this day? Without further ado, then, here are my thoughts on Buffy after sleeping with them for two years straight.
In Case You Missed It, Here’s Why I Like(d) Buffy
Before zeroing in, we conducted extensive research to compare cooling bedding products. Here are a few of the reasons why Buffy ultimately stood out:
1. Fabric of the Matter
The Breeze sheets and comforter are made with TENCEL lyocell, Buffy’s signature eucalyptus-derived material. This miraculous cloth is cool to the touch, absorbent, and moisture-wicking, so sweat-free sleep is guaranteed all year long.
2. The Founder Is an Expert
Leo Wang, co-founder and CEO at Buffy, grew up in a family with over 30 years of intergenerational experience in bedding manufacturing. Needless to say, this guy knows what he’s doing.
3. Buffy <3 the Earth
Made with natural wood pulp, TENCEL lyocell is 100% biodegradable and requires far less water for production than cotton. These features are reflective of Buffy’s mission to produce bedding that works with the Earth instead of against it—this means low-impact production and transport, durability, and responsibly sourced materials.
4. Prevent Bacteria & Allergen Build-Up
The uniquely sleek texture of TENCEL lyocell renders micro-crevices obsolete. Over time, in other fabrics, these can become pockets of bacteria and allergens (ew). Bedding is supposed to do a lot of things—making you sick isn’t one of them.
5. 7-Night Free Trial (?!)
It sounds too good to be true, but this is one of those rare occasions where there is genuinely no catch. You can test-run any Buffy product for a full week before committing to it—your card literally won’t be charged until the seventh night. Don’t believe me? Test it out…
Onto the Review: Buffy Ages Like a Fine Wine
As it turns out, Buffy only gets better with time. I’m talking about both the company and its ultradurable products-–at the same time that the brand progresses and develops innovative new products and designs, I’ve watched my actual bedding stand the test of time, too. Nearly a hundred washes have done nothing to diminish the lush, naturally cooling properties of this fabric.
In fact, each wash of my sheets softens and “breaks in” the material, a testament to the naturally sourced materials. No synthetic polyesters here. And when it comes to my Buffy Breeze Comforter, well… it’s exactly the same as the day it arrived. None of that premature flattening that happened to each of my cheap college-era comforters (which is why I had to buy a new one every year). Buffy delivers on every promise.
My Buffy Breeze Collection Product Guide
Now that I’ve established myself as a long-term expert of the brand, I figure I’ll run through some pieces in the Breeze Collection to help decide which might be best for you. (If you want them all, see bullet #4).
Breeze Comforter, $175+ (I Have This): The Suite bought me this one to test-run, and I had a different comforter at the time, so I expected to label the Breeze as a spare or give it away to a friend. That was before I slept with it. The evenly distributed fill and cooling TENCEL lyocell shell combine for a subtly weighted, temperature-regulated bedtime experience unlike any I’ve experienced before.
Breeze Sheets, $145+ (I’m Getting More): Where to begin with this wonderful rendition of an otherwise classic home essential? The Breeze Sheets look and feel like silk, are unbelievably breathable, and they’ve completely eradicated night sweats. They come in 34 colors and 6 sizes, so one set was obviously never going to be enough. I’m a biiiiiig colors person. About a year ago, I ordered my second set, in Lichen, and I’m about to order Earth now that fall is upon us.
Breeze Duvet Cover, $100+ (I Have This): I didn’t even order this one as part of our review way back when—months later, I just really wanted it. And can I say, it completes my bed perfectly? I chose the Blue Stripe and it brightens my entire room with enough warmth to keep the space cozy, too.
The Cooling Bundle, $497: This is my go-to holiday gift for those big-ticket givers in my life. Since I can basically vouch for every product in here, it just makes sense to wrap them all up with a bow for one game-changing present. This bundle also comes with two Cloud Cooling Pillows, which I’ve yet to experience but have had my eye on for a while now.
Like I said, Buffy always has new tricks up their sleeves, so I wouldn’t be surprised if their Breeze Collection continues to grow. For now, though, I’d say their bases are covered very well.
I Wouldn’t Say It If I Didn’t Mean It: Buffy’s Bedding Is Unmatched
I’m not one to sugar-coat things. I reviewed Buffy because I had to, and there were no expectations going in (not even after reading about their 10+ awards). The above is an accumulation of two years’ worth of experience and contemplation, most of which happened of my own volition. I’m sharing my love for Buffy because I genuinely want to.
If environmentally friendly, long–lasting, naturally cooling bedding is intriguing to you, I can’t recommend Buffy’s free trial enough. Pick one (or several) pieces from the Breeze collection and get ready for the first 7 nights of the rest of your life.
